The Appointments Committee typically meets monthly. This committee makes recommendations about appointments to citizen committees.

Board of Review
(meets two days a year, typically in the spring, prior to the Blue Earth County Board of Review)
The purpose of the City Board of Review is to listen to citizen concerns on valuations of their property. The Board of Review has the authority to increase or decrease (within 1%) property value.

Environmental Committee
(typically meets monthly the third Wednesday at 4 p.m.)
The primary function of the Environmental Committee is to review each public and private project in environmentally sensitive areas and consider the environmental impacts of the project.

Heritage Preservation Commission
The Heritage Preservation Commission makes recommendations to the Mankato City Council about promoting and preserving Mankato’s historic neighborhoods, including designations of significant buildings and places that are locally significant to our heritage.

Joint Civil Service Commission
(typically meets monthly, annually, or as necessary)
The Civil Service Commission interviews applicants for positions with public safety-police and fire. The Civil Service Commission governs the procedures used in the application process, testing, appointment and promotion.

Mass Transit User Group
(typically meets monthly)
The Mass Transit Advisory Committee makes recommendations to the City Council on the city bus system. This includes bus schedule changes and services, revenues and expenditures, and the special needs of various users of the city bus system.

Multi-Modal Transportation Committee
The Multi-Modal Transportation Committee makes recommendations to the Mankato City Council about all-inclusive transportation needs enabling the city to plan and promote the safe and efficient movement of people, goods and services.

Planning Commission
(typically meets monthly the fourth Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.)
The Planning Commission’s primary function is to evaluate proposed planning and zoning requests. This includes variances from the city code, conditional use permits, and rezoning applications. Other responsibilities include subdivision review, review of proposed ordinance changes, and assisting in updating the comprehensive plan.
