Jerry Huettl has served the City of Mankato and its residents since 1974. Huettl strives to work with Mankato Department of Public Safety staff and other team members to provide top quality and innovative solutions to meet public safety needs.

Prior to joining the City of Mankato, Huettl served as a manager at petroleum stores, a pharmacy and a parts and service area for a car dealership. In addition, he was a self employed cabinet maker for 10 years. He attended the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and earned his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Supervises firefighters. Bengtson has a bachelor's degree in fire and safety engineering technology. He is certified as a firefighter II by the State of Minnesota. He is an emergency medical technician, hazardous materials specialist, rope rescue technician, confined space rescue technician and live burn instructor.

Glen Cansler Acting Commander
Supervises and trains firefighters. Cansler is certified as a hazardous materials specialist, confined space rescue technician, rope rescue technician, fire/arson investigator, live burn instructor and is a rescue diver with the Blue Earth County dive team.

Don Lehne Acting Commander
Supervises and trains firefighterrs and is a fire/arson investigator. Lehne is certified as a hazardous materials specialist, a confined space rescue technician, rope rescue technician and trench rescue technician.

Supervises community service officers, the part-time police unit, and police and fire explorers. Kunkel has a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and a master's in public administration. She is a hazardous materials technician and certified hazardous materials specialist. She is certified by the National Fire Academy in fire and arson investigations and managing fire prevention programs. Kunkel is also a licensed police officer.
