Fasteners shall be long enough to penetrate into the sheathing at least 3/4 of an inch, or through, whichever is less. Maximum spacing shall be four fasteners per 26 to 40-inch shingle strip or two fasteners per nine to 18-inch shingle strip. Approved fasteners:

• 12 gauge, 3/8 inch head corrosion-resistant nails
• 16 gauge, 15/16 inch crown corrosion-resistant nails
