The Mankato Department of Public Safety police staff includes patrol, detective, school Liaison, community policing, narcotics/gangs and volunteer officers. Patrol consists of three shifts supervised by two commanders. The part-time unit includes up to 40 fully trained volunteer officers who assist police officers in many areas, including special community events.
