Public works manages many vital functions so Mankato has a clean, healthy, safe and enjoyable environment. Public works staff ensure clean drinking water, manage effective wastewater treatment, oversee garbage and recycling collection, offer reliable transportation services, provide well-designed and maintained streets, streets, walkways, storm drains, parks, public landscaping, offer reliable transportation opportunities. In addition, other services including leaf pickup, Christmas tree recycling and Spring Cleanup are provided as an added-value to residents' monthly utility payments. Public works include utilities/infrastructure, streets, mass transit, parks and the Mankato Regional Airport.
