Get involved as a volunteer with the city of Mankato’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Volunteers with CERT provide critical assistance needed in the case of a disaster such as a flood or tornado and assist during large city events. CERT members play a critical role in emergency situations because they are trained to assist others in their neighborhood and workplace when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

Training includes 20 hours of classroom time and hands-on training at the public works center, 501 South Victory Drive. Once a person is trained, the time commitment is based on events as they arise. Two sessions will be held:

Weeknight option
April 3, 10, 17, 24, and May 1: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Weekend option
April 27: 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; April 28 and 29: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To apply for the volunteer opportunity to serve on a Mankato Community Emergency Response Team, complete an application and email, or send U.S. Postal mail to:  City of Mankato, 501 South Victory Drive, Mankato, MN 56002. Applications will be accepted through Friday, February 17. Learn more about CERT.
