Mobility Bus Service

Eligibility
The City of Mankato, in addition to operating a fixed route bus system within the Mankato area, operates complimentary para-transit service for qualified residents. This service is designed to provide transportation to individuals who would otherwise be unable to access public transportation due to mental and/or physical disability. The eligibility guidelines and application may be accessed at:

Service Area

  • The service area for the Greater Mankato Transit Systems paratransit service includes any location within the city limits of Mankato or North Mankato. Our drivers will not transport any passenger outside the city limits of either Mankato or North Mankato.
  • There is no Mobility Bus service to Le Hillier or Eagle Lake.

Fare
All individuals who have completed the application and certification process have two options to pay for their transportation on the Mobility Bus.

  • Cash Fare: $3.00 (one way)
  • Discount Book (10 tickets): $27.00

The discount book of tickets may be purchased at several locations:

  • Directly from the driver
  • From the information desk located in the Intergovernmental Center, 10 Civic Center Plaza (anybody using a voucher must purchase their tickets here).

Schedule a Ride
Once an individual has been entered into our system as a certified user of paratransit services, they will be able to schedule transportation. Due to the heavy demand on this service, transportation is being scheduled four weeks in advance of the current date. Listed below are some recommendations that may help secure the time slot and date on which transportation is needed.

  • Call our office as far in advance as possible to make a reservation.
  • Reservations need to be requested a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
  • Call between the hours of 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Do not assume that because you have left a message, the reservation has been accepted at the requested time.
  • If you do leave a message at our office, be sure to leave your name and a phone number at which you can be reached.
  • Do not ask the driver to make a reservation on your behalf.
  • If you are making a reservation request for dialysis, or any other urgent medical appointment, please inform our scheduler at the time you make the reservation request.
