The Way Things Were by Tim Malone, Mankato

Mankato’s Legal Department represents the city in legal matters involved with court or an agency. The department provides legal advice to the City Council, the City Manager, department heads, directors and other city staff members.

The City Clerk oversees licensing as well as maintains and preserves the city’s official documents, including contracts and agreements, licenses, easements and the City Code. The City Clerk also processes citizens’ claims for damages against the city, maintains all official records of the City council, and issues licenses for liquor, gambling, soft drinks, dogs, tobacco, door-to-door sales and rental housing. 

There is intergovernmental cooperation with Blue Earth County on election services.
