Mankato's newest plaque, the Ho-Chunk Heritage Plaque, was recently installed. The event was attended by several people including participants Charles Noble, Spiritual Leader of the Ho-Chunk/Winnebago, and Leonard Wabasha from the Dakota.
Copy for the plaque was researched and written by the Blue Earth County Historical Society and approved by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska Tribal Council. The purpose of Mankato’s heritage plaques is to communicate local history to citizens and visitors.
