Flood control a year-round activity in Mankato

With the recent rains and snow melt, Mankato is in a period of heightened awareness about high water. City staff is currently conducting frequent inspections (at least daily) of the river walls and supporting pumping stations, along with continuous monitoring of the river level. Today, when the Minnesota River reached eight feet, city staff began some pumping station activity.
“We do flood control on a year-round basis, so we’re always prepared,” said Director of Public Works Mark Knoff.
